What’s expiring and when
EGGER’s Design Flooring EPD for wood flooring is valid from March 2, 2022 to March 2, 2027. It sits in MasterFormat 09 64 00 Wood Flooring, was published with IBU, and references the floor coverings Part B rules. That date is hard stop for submittals that require a current, product‑specific EPD.
Is a replacement live yet
As of July 20, 2026, we do not see a newer Design Flooring EPD from EGGER. Other EGGER declarations remain current for longer, for example Laminate Micro and Laminate to April 15, 2027, Eurodekor MDF and Melamine Faced Chipboard to May 10, 2027, and Laminate Flooring to June 3, 2030. That suggests a focused renewal need rather than a portfolio‑wide gap.
Where to verify EGGER documents
EGGER centralizes public EPD access on its Product Transparency page. It is the fastest route for specifiers to pull current PDFs and for product teams to sanity‑check what is live on the market. See EGGER’s page here: Product transparency.
If renewal slips, who gains ground
Specifiers typically stay within category when an EPD lapses. Current examples in 09 64 00 Wood Flooring that could absorb demand include
- Kährs 14 mm engineered wood floors, valid to March 22, 2027, EPD Hub.
- Kährs 13 mm engineered wood floors, valid to August 31, 2027, EPD Hub.
- Bauwerk 2‑ and 3‑ply parquet, valid to October 31, 2027, INIES.
- Junckers parquet ranges, valid to May 28, 2030, EPD Danmark.
These are not endorsements. They are the kinds of alternatives project teams short‑list when a required EPD is out of date.
Why the five‑year clock matters
Most construction EPD programs use a five‑year validity window tied to program rules, with earlier updates required in defined cases. This norm is documented by IBU and the International EPD System, and it is the expectation reviewers bring to submittals in 2026 and 2027 (IBU General Programme Instructions, 2024) (EPD International, 2025).
Quick renewal playbook for wood‑based floors
Pick the right rulebook. Align on EN 15804+A2 based PCRs used by peers so your results compare cleanly. If you need a refresher on A2’s scope and datasets, see our plain‑English guides to EN 15804 and A2. Collect one recent 12‑month reference year from production, including electricity, resins, overlays, packaging, yields, waste, and transport. Close gaps early so verification is about substance, not spelunking for invoices. Decide the program operator. Many European wood products publish at IBU. Others use EPD International or national systems. Keep your current operator unless strategy says otherwise.
Commercial impact for sales and spec
A lapsed EPD does not mean a worse product. It does mean extra friction for LEED v5 and other frameworks that expect current, program‑operator EPDs aligned to ISO 14025 and EN 15804. Friction in submittals often becomes friction in specifications. Timelines get tight fast, espeically across complex portfolios.
What to watch next
If EGGER posts a refreshed Design Flooring EPD before March 2, 2027, the risk for that SKU disappears. Until then, keep the renewal moving and keep submittal binders tidy with live PDFs from EGGER’s transparency page. Our stance is simple. Control the paperwork, protect the spec, and save your sales team from last‑mile surprises.
