Global pulse
June confirmed EPDs are scaling. The International EPD System said it surpassed 20,000 published EPDs and 3,000 clients in Q1 2026, a clear signal that verified product data is mainstream now (EPD International, 2026) (environdec.com).
On June 10, IES adopted a UL Solutions PCR framework for builders hardware to ease ISO 21930 alignment for North American manufacturers, a small rules win that cuts friction at publication (EPD International, 2026) (environdec.com).
North America
USGBC extended the LEED v4 and v4.1 commercial registration close to June 30, 2027, announced mid‑June. Teams get more runway, yet submittals are already tuned for v5 style material documentation, so EPD hygiene still decides speed at approval (USGBC, 2026) (usgbc.org).
Program operators stayed active. New Smart EPD publications landed on June 1 for resilient flooring, a reminder that fresh, third‑party verified PDFs continue to roll into specs daily (Smart EPD, 2026).
European Union and France
France’s INIES database now lists 4,872 FDES and 1,735 PEP, representing 311,805 product references as of July 1, a clean proxy for what RE2020 modelers actually pull during design (INIES, 2026) (inies.fr).
EU policy kept nudging procurement toward comparable product data. This raises the premium on declarations that follow current PCRs and declare module scopes clearly. If your EPD is messy, your competitors’ will look better.

Germany
IBU reported 11 new members in Q2 2026, another nudge toward broader category coverage in EN 15804 territory (IBU, 2026). For manufacturers, more peer EPDs means buyers have easier apples‑to‑apples checks, so gaps stand out faster.
United Kingdom and Ireland
A UK‑based EPD programme, Circular Ecology, added multiple publications in June, visible in its library update. Local operators lowering publication friction helps suppliers close documentation loops earlier in tender calendars (Circular Ecology, 2026).
With LEED v5 influences crossing the Atlantic in global client briefs, lean, product‑specific EPDs are showing up as the simplest way to avoid embodied‑carbon guesswork during value engineering.
Asia
Japan’s SuMPO EPD pipeline stayed lively, with mid‑June product declarations surfacing from industrial and construction suppliers. That matters for U.S. and EU bids that now prefer globally comparable EPD formats (SuMPO, 2026).
Singapore’s National Environment Agency will strengthen MEPS and labeling from July 1, 2026, which indirectly tightens LCA baselines manufacturers feed into EPDs for equipment and components sold into high‑efficiency projects (NEA, 2026).
Oceania
EPD Australasia cites more than 4,000 EPDs published for over 190 organisations as of May, which matches what we see in Green Star‑driven specs across concrete, steel, and timber packages (ISCouncil, 2026). Treat verifier scheduling as a real activity, not an afterthought, so your renewal does not collide with bid due dates.
Latin America
Brazil advanced its Selo Verde program with a June norm for aluminum rolled sheets, another sign that life‑cycle rules are being written into sector playbooks, not left to marketing claims (MDIC, 2026). If you export into Brazil, harmonize your EPD datasets with those LCA expectations early.
What to do in July
- If your EPD expires within 12 months, start the renewal now so sales does not hit a surprise roadblock when a project team asks for a current declaration.
- Map one clean data spine per factory. Pull utilities, volumes, transport, and waste the same way every time to avoid version‑control ping‑pong with verifiers.
- Publish product‑specific first, then layer category or portfolio rollups. Spec teams reward clarity.
Deadlines shifted, but the customer habit did not. Buyers default to products with current, third‑party verified EPDs because it cuts risk and RFI churn. That is still the shortest path to fewer pricing conversations and more straightforward wins, and it is definately the calmer path for your product managers.
