What is actually expiring in January 2027
As of May 21, 2026, four NMC S.A. EPDs published with IBU are set to expire on January 5, 2027. All sit in MasterFormat 07 21 19 Foamed‑In‑Place Insulation and are polyethylene foam pipe insulation per EN 14313.
- CLIMAFLEX® naturefoam
- CLIMAFLEX® naturefoam easy
- CLIMAFLEX® naturefoam exzentro
- CLIMAFLEX® naturefoam stabil

Are replacements already live
There are newer EN 15804+A2 EPDs that cover parts of the CLIMAFLEX portfolio, but they do not map one‑to‑one to every expiring SKU.
- CLIMAFLEX® naturefoam range in 5 and 9 mm thicknesses, diameters 12 to 89 mm, published under the French INIES scheme, valid to July 19, 2029. This looks like partial coverage of the core pipe insulation sizes rather than a full portfolio replacement.
- CLIMAFLEX® SPIRAL with interior diameters 125 to 200 mm, also current to July 19, 2029 in INIES, which provides coverage for spiral ventilation runs but not the easy, exzentro or stabil lines.
Teams should confirm exact dimensions and markets using NMC’s product page and download center above. If a project needs a declaration for a SKU outside those ranges, coverage may be missing for a few months.

Where a gap could form
Based on the current listings, we do not see fresh EPDs that directly replace CLIMAFLEX naturefoam easy, exzentro, or stabil. The generic CLIMAFLEX naturefoam EPD will also time out in January. If those documents are not renewed on time, specifiers that must submit product‑specific, third‑party verified EPDs could default to competitors with active declarations rather than wait. That is how schedules get bumpy and margin walks out the door.
Likely alternatives specifiers will consider
Competitors with current EPDs in the same PCR family and application space are visible today. Expect the following to show up on submittal lists if coverage lapses.
- Würth flexen® PE‑stabil, IBU, current past September 2027. Polyethylene closed‑cell pipe insulation comparable to CLIMAFLEX stabil.
- Würth flexen® Exzenterblock Compact, IBU, current past September 2027. Rectangular PE insulation that mirrors the exzentro use case in floors and chases.
- Armacell AF/ArmaFlex Evo, IBU, current past March 2027. Elastomeric foam rather than PE, yet often treated as a functional alternative in pipe insulation packages.

Smart renewal timing and scope
Renewing now keeps sales moving without detours. Two practical moves reduce risk.
- Confirm portfolio coverage at the SKU and dimension level. Where INIES already covers common diameters and thicknesses, verify whether those documents are accepted on your target projects and geographies. Where they do not, prioritize those SKUs for renewal first.
- Decide on one EPD that aggregates a family versus multiple narrow ones. Family‑level EPDs cut document sprawl, but only if the declared products and performance are truly comparable. Narrower EPDs can be faster to verify and update.
Program operator alignment without the headaches
IBU and INIES are both credible for EN 15804‑based work. Pick the route that aligns with where projects are bid and which submittals your customers already expect. The heavy lift is data collection across plants, recipes, and utilities. Teams that centralize utility pulls, production volumes, and waste streams upfront typically shave weeks off cycle time. We’ve seen even lean organizations collect once, then reuse clean data across multiple EPD renewals.
What to watch between now and January 2027
Keep an eye on three signals.
- Any new EPDs that explicitly replace easy, exzentro, or stabil.
- Updates to product dimensions covered by the INIES listings that might close today’s gaps.
- Customer prequalification forms that quietly start requiring current EPDs for all pipe insulation SKUs. Miss one line item and a whole package can stall, which is annoying and avoidable.
Bottom line for spec readiness
NMC S.A. has time, but not that much. Four CLIMAFLEX naturefoam EPDs hit their date on January 5, 2027. Some coverage exists already for common sizes and for SPIRAL, yet easy, exzentro, and stabil appear uncovered if you need an EPD this quarter. Close the gaps now, keep the bid machine humming, and make life easier for specifiers who otherwise might loose patience and switch to whatever is current.
