Four New EPDs: Congrats to MSR Design on a Batch Release

MSR Design's EC3 profile just added four new EPDs in one batch, all for modular acoustic pods: the Eco Max XL Connected, Eco Team M Connected, Eco Multi L and Eco Desk S. That brings the profile to 14 current declarations with zero expired. For anyone selling furniture and pods into offices where embodied carbon gets counted, this matters. Product-specific data stops being a gap a competitor can use against a product and starts helping it hold its place in the spec.

A batch of four, all in one go

Congratulations to MSR Design. Four new EPDs went live on its EC3 profile in a single batch at the end of October 2026. All four cover modular acoustic pods, the freestanding "rooms within rooms" that have spread through open-plan offices over the last few years.

The new declarations are:

  • Eco Max XL Connected: two Eco Max XL units joined into one boardroom-sized suite for 10 to 11 people
  • Eco Team M Connected: two Eco Team M units linked into a project hub for up to six people
  • Eco Multi L: a multi-purpose pod with a 107.9-inch exterior width that is wheelchair accessible
  • Eco Desk S: a 77.2-inch-wide private office pod for focused work

All four are valid until October 27, 2031. They now sit next to ten earlier EPDs on the same profile, so the total is 14 current declarations and zero expired. Thirteen of those 14 are good through 2031, which gives specifiers a long and predictable window.

What exactly got declared

Each of the four EPDs covers one named product configuration, not a broad product family. That matters to specifiers. A product-level EPD fits a project's carbon model directly, while a family-level average needs the designer to accept a range.

The EC3 entries carry a "#split" prefix. That usually means the records were split out of a larger multi-product document so each pod gets its own listing. Specifiers get the convenience of picking the exact pod in their model. The product names match the pod collection marketed by Ecolution Design. Anyone reading the full declarations should check how the manufacturer and declaration holder are listed in the source PDFs.

The EC3 records for this batch don't name a program operator or an LCA developer. The earlier EPDs on the profile were all published through EPD International (Environdec) under PCR 2019:14 Construction products (EN 15804+A2). Those cover lounge chairs, steel and wooden barstools, the Huddle single-, two- and four-seater metal booths, and the A5.1 Modular Meeting Pod. A single bathroom basin declaration was published through EPD Danmark. If the new pods follow the same route, the portfolio stays consistent, and that makes side-by-side comparison easier.

From furniture to full pod lineup

This batch goes deeper into a category the profile already had. It doesn't open a new one. The Huddle booths and the A5.1 meeting pod already gave MSR Design's profile a foothold in acoustic enclosures. The four Eco pods add the larger end of the range: boardroom suites, team hubs and private offices.

Think of it as finishing a set of nesting dolls. A single-seat booth alone is useful. A lineup that runs from one-person focus booths to an 11-person connected boardroom lets a design team specify a whole floor's quiet spaces from one source with declared data. That's a stronger offer than a single hero product.

How the pod market stacks up on EPDs

Few acoustic pod makers show up in EC3 with product-specific data. Framery, probably the best-known name in the category, has three current EPDs, all published through EPD International. Its most recent, for the Framery One Work, arrived only days before this batch. We looked for several other well-known pod brands and didn't find EC3 entries for them.

With 14 current declarations, including at least eight booth and pod configurations, MSR Design's profile now has broader EPD coverage of the pod category than the closest competitor we could find. That's an edge on coverage, not a claim about lower carbon. Comparing results across EPDs only works when PCRs, declared units and system boundaries line up, so specifiers should check before treating the numbers as a head-to-head. For broader context on how program operators handle this, the EPD Guide covers Environdec and its peers in depth.

Why pods with EPDs are easier to keep in the spec

Acoustic pods used to be treated as loose furniture that nobody counted. That's changing. More fit-out projects now report embodied carbon for interiors, and LEED v5 puts more weight on embodied carbon than earlier versions did. When a product has no product-specific EPD, the design team often has to fall back on conservative generic estimates, sometimes with an extra penalty added on top.

That penalty is what drives substitutions. A pod without data can quietly get swapped for one that has data when a project is trying to hit its carbon target. With third-party verified declarations, the conversation moves away from price alone. A single mid-sized office project can be worth more than the cost of producing the EPD. Manufacturers rarely see the specs they lose this way, which is why a gap in coverage hurts more than it looks.

Fast listing, but visibility still matters

The timing here is tight. The four EPDs became valid on roughly October 27 and showed up in EC3 by October 31, a gap of only a few days. Delays of weeks or months between issuance and database listing are common. Every day a declaration sits unlisted is a day specifiers can't find it in the tools they actually use, so a short gap like this pays off.

The other half of visibility is the brand's own website. We couldn't find these EPDs linked from msrdesign.com. Adding a sustainability or downloads page with direct links to each declaration would help specifiers verify the data in one click instead of searching a database. A listing on epd.directory would also put the full portfolio in one place for buyers.

A milestone that sets up the next round

Four pods declared in one batch, a 14-strong portfolio with nothing expired, and more category coverage than the nearest competitor we could find. That is a solid transparency milestone. The next useful steps are linking each EPD from its product page and keeping the program operator and PCR consistent at renewal time, so comparisons stay clean.

The acoustic pod market grew on comfort and privacy. As carbon accounting moves into office fit-outs, declared data is becoming another reason a product makes it into the spec. This batch puts MSR Design's profile in a good spot for that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which products are covered by MSR Design's four new EPDs released in October 2026?

The batch covers four modular acoustic pods: **Eco Max XL Connected** (10 to 11 people), **Eco Team M Connected** (up to 6 people), **Eco Multi L** (a wheelchair-accessible multi-purpose pod) and **Eco Desk S** (a private office pod). Each EPD covers one specific configuration, not a product family.

How many current EPDs does MSR Design have in EC3 after the October 2026 batch?

As of November 3, 2026, the profile lists **14 current EPDs and 0 expired**. Thirteen are valid into 2031 and one into 2030.

Which program operator publishes MSR Design's EPDs?

The EC3 records for the four new pod EPDs don't name a program operator. The earlier EPDs on the profile (lounge chairs, barstools, Huddle booths, A5.1 meeting pod) were published through **EPD International (Environdec)** under PCR 2019:14 (EN 15804+A2). One basin EPD was published through **EPD Danmark**.

How does MSR Design's acoustic pod EPD coverage compare to Framery?

Framery has **3 current EPDs** in EC3, all through EPD International. MSR Design's profile now covers at least **8 booth and pod configurations** within its 14 current EPDs, so its coverage of the category is broader. That says nothing about which pods have lower carbon, which needs a like-for-like methodology check.

How long did it take for MSR Design's new EPDs to appear in EC3?

Only a few days. The EPDs became valid around **October 27, 2026** and appeared in EC3 by **October 31, 2026**. Short listing gaps help specifiers find products sooner.
